The topic that caught my interest in Chapter 10 is the Big Five Model. Most recent research suggests that there may be five basics personality factors. The first factor is extraversion, which means, contrasts talkativeness, assertiveness, and activity with silence, passivity, and reserve. The second factor is Agreeableness, which means, contrasts kindness, trust, and warmth, with hostility, selfishness, and distrust. The third factor is Conscientiousness, which means, contrasts organization, thoroughness, and reliability with carelessness, negligence, and unreliability. The fourth factor is Neuroticism, which means, contrasts nervousness, moodiness, and sensitivity to negative stimuli with coping ability. The final factor is Openness to experience, which means, imagination, curiosity, and lack creativity with shallowness and lack of perceptiveness. Many personality theorists, especially Robert McCrae and Paul T. Costa Jr. played a role in the development of the five-factor model.
