What do the dots above the repeated notes in measure 18 mean?

In measure 18 the only actual notes are eighth notes and the dots are under the notes. The dots are called “staccatos” and when they are either above or below the notes, it means to play those notes short and detached so they sound kind of bouncy/jumpy
