The CEO of your company has good news and bad news to deliver to your organization. The bad news is that Team A’s proposal to reinstate college tuition reimbursement for all employees was declined by the administration due to overhead costs. The good news is that Team’s B proposal to implement employee flexible work schedules was approved. However, instead of allowing employees to telecommute one day a week (five, eight-hour days), management opted to close the office on Friday and implement a Mon-Thurs work week (four, ten-hour days). Both teams are dissatisfied with the decisions, and both teams are threatening actions. Team A wants to strike because some employees once had this benefit and others do not have the same opportunity. You will persuade Team A’s leader why a strike is not in the best interest of the organization over this issue. Team B is refusing the counteroffer because in their opinion, the 4 day-10 hour schedule only helps the company save money and is not in the best interest of employees. They are refusing to work the new schedule. You will persuade Team B why a compromise is in the best interest of the organization. You are chosen to communicate to both team leaders the decisions. You need to decide the best way to communicate in writing. Using the strategies outlined in your text and other resources, discuss what approach you would use and why.
