Iodine is a substances that can be easily recovered from solution by mild heating of its aqueous solution. If I want to recover iodine crystals from a solution, I can heat the aqueous solution mildly over a low flame with a dish placed over the flame .

As the heating proceeds, the iodine fumes begin to come out and gradually condense around the cooler parts of the dish. As they condense, they begin to form pure iodine crystals. The pure iodine crystals can now be recovered successfully.
