new viruses are discovered on an almost daily basis. if you surf the internet or exchange email, it's important to use
antivirus software and to keep it updated. research the most current virus threats, and create a table that lists them
along with details about each threat. note: to complete the independent challenge, your computer must be connected to
the internet.
a. use your favorite search engine to go to the microsoft malware protection center (mmpc) at
and then read about the mmpc and its mission,
b. under the recently published heading, click the links to the five most recent threats, and then read the
description of each threat.
c. open a new word-processing document, and create a table that lists each virus threat, including a description
of what each virus does, and how damaging each virus is (the alert level). also note any steps you can take to
prevent getting the virus, along with ways to recover an infected computer.
d. use your search engine to find three different antivirus programs that can be installed on your computer. in
your word-processing document, create a new section that lists the programs you found. include the benefits
and costs of using each program.
