Why does my computer run faster after reboot?

That's fairly common... it's because you have background applications which have crashed/gotten hung up and are degrading performance, or some piece of installed software has a memory leak ( simply a bug/programming error that causes the system to slow down over time).  Rebooting the computer clears all of that.
