In the Victorian era, Britain was a rich and powerful nation with it's high and lows. Perhaps if the Victorian era was a nation free of steroetypes such as gender sexuality this would have improved the standard of living of all it's citizens. During that era there was great gender inequality or disparity where men were seen or perceived to be stronger sex than women and women taken to be the weaker sex. Been free of gender inequality makes a society a better place for all.

One thing that stood out during the Victorian era was the aristrocractic rule where a few rich men controled the rest of the society. Discouraging this aristrocractic rule would have made everyone acceptable and not discriminated upon.

Explanation:The Victorian era was between 1837-1909..the the era came with some challenges and some solutions were proposed to better things. Below are some of the challenges and remedy..

Drugs:-people took a lot of hard drugs and all sort of health injurious substances, there were many chemists and few doctors, people bought drugs without proper prescription.. The remedy to this is to implement laws that made sure people stops abusing drugs,and also to start up clinics and train medical personalities...

Food:-distribution of food stuffs was into easy,perishable food got spoilt easily,but the arrival of rails and bottling technologies made things better..food stuffs were distributed by trains and bottling ensured preservation of food stuffs..

Economy:-most poor people lived in hardship with no source of income..so it was better to implement laws that ensure low class individuals had employment...

In summary LAWS IMPLEMENTATION,TECHNOLOGY, DEMOCRACY, AND TRANSPORTATION WERE REMEDIES TO POOR LIVING DURING VICTORIA ERA

as for symbolic actions, the narrator's tearing down the wallpaper in an attempt to find the "woman" in the wallpaper represents her struggle to retain or regain her sanity. the wallpaper has been part of her confinement and by her tearing it down, she is freeing herself from that confinement.
