Original Assignment Instructions: Poems to choose from-The choice by Dorothy parker and the road not taken by Robert Frost For this module's project, you'll write in multiple forms or genres but as one single "character" or persona--the speaker in one of the poems you read. You'll create a history or "back story" for that person that combines several forms of writing. You'll need be creative but also analytical--looking inside the heart and soul of one of the people in this module who made a choice.

Goal

Anyone who views your collection of texts should come away with a greater understanding of how the character felt about the decision.

Role

You can choose any speaker (or character) in the poems. Keep in mind, though, that you'll need to include details from this person's past and present, focusing especially on the decision that person made in the poem.

Audience

Your audience is an editor at a publishing company.

Situation

You have been asked by your publisher to create a multi-genre work of literature or art that revolves around the experiences of a character from a popular and accessible poem about life choices. What you produce, taken together, should provide a clear and profound glimpse into the character's thoughts, feelings and reasoning when presented with a difficult decision. Feel free to give the speaker of the poem a name. You should produce a minimum of 5 different pieces from the possibilities below, though your are not limited to these choices. If there are other genres you would like to pursue, ask your teacher for permission.

Standards for Success

Your finished product should feature a wide variety of forms and genres from the list given. Each piece should provide an accurate and authentic look into the character's thoughts about the decision made in the poem or the song. The artifacts you include from the genre list will appear authentic. If you choose a book jacket, for example, you would fold a piece of paper to actually look like a book jacket and create it. A job application would be an actual application from somewhere the character might have applied. Everything in the project should actually look like the item it is supposed to be.
