Monsoons are known to happen primarily in East Asia. Monsoons happen during the summer time. The land tends to be warmer than the ocean in the summer time. So basically, air rises from the land and starts circulating so it can fill the void in the ocean. Air rise causes clouds to form and rain to fall.

Monsoons release extreme amounts of water and can sometimes even kill people. Think of it as a mini-hurricane.
