1. Distance: one among the foremost reason is because the region is separated from oceanic moisture sources by topography or by distance.

2. Wind: A second general or popular reason for aridity is that the formation of dry, stable air masses which tends resist convective currents.

3. Rain: The absence of rain fall almost over large parts of the recent deserts, most of the precipitation coming in violent convectional showers that don't cover extensive areas.
