Biomes are very large communities of flora and fauna that are occupying a major habitat and are occurring in a natural way. Every part of the planet belongs to a certain biome, as there are organisms living in virtually every condition on our planet. Some of the biomes are tropical rainforest, savanna, taiga, tundra, etc.

The tropical rainforest is a biome that is located at the Equator and very close to it, both north and south of the Equator. The reason why this biome is located here is that this is the only part of the planet that provides suitable conditions for such lush vegetation to develop and such a high amount of animals to thrive.

The climate of the tropical rainforest is unique in that it is monotonous for almost all of the year. The temperatures are relatively high, but not too high, the precipitation levels are almost equally distributed across the year and are in high amounts. The variation of the temperature is alomost nonexistent throughout the year, and the amount of sunlight is very close to that of an equinox throughout the year.

The tropical rainforest ecosystem consists of tall evergreen trees and a lot of shorter evergreen, broad leaved plants, and it has the highest biodiversity of any terrestrial biome. The soil is not very fertile though, despite the high amount of biomass, and this mostly comes because of the intense usage of it by the lush vegetation that is highly active all year round, so there isn't really any time for the soil to develop a deeper and better profile. The nutrient cycle is extremely fast, and this is due to the high temperatures and humidity, extremely high decomposition rates, so the nutrients cycle throughout the spheres very quickly.
