In this part of the world existed an ocean called Tethys, and what is now the Mediterranean Sea was actually the westernmost part of this ocean. As the continents were moving, Tethys started to gradually disappear, with Africa blocking the western part of it, and India moving in the middle of it until it reached Eurasia, giving birth to numerous seas and the India Ocean.
