How did most enslaved people cope with the miserable conditions they faced?

They sang songs, took care of other people’s kids, had rebellions, refused to adopt some white names their masters would try to give them, house slaves would put glass shards in their masters’ food, they might’ve poisoned their masters’ food, it’s a lot of things they did. Some would teach themselves how to read and write or the elders would take care of the younger kids while the teenagers / young adults would be in the field.
