The purpose can be categorized in two ways, one was either through selfishness or selflessness.

In the areas of selflessness, they tried so many ways to resolve conflicts or issues among the people for the betterment of the country.

For selfishness, they made the people to suffer through their bad, selfish and corrupt ways.
