Most emigrants from England came to the Americas in the 1600s because they were in search of a better life, largely greater religious freedom. Those that were coming the Americas as this time were being pushed and pulled because of religious persecution and the opportunity for increased security and a better opportunity at a new life in the Americas. 

Most people came in the 1600's because they needed money and to get jobs.
