heliocentric model of the universe.
1500s: Tycho Brahe collected data
about the movement of heavenly
bodies. Johannes Kepler used Brahe's
data to show that planets move in an
oval-shaped orbit called an ellipse.
1600s. Galileo Galilei used an asronomical
telescope to make his observations. He
published papers about his discoveries
that the Earth and the other planets revolve
around the sun.
