a Germany because Germany was split into west and east Germany.
It was also split into West and East Berlin. The U.S.S.R side was communist and the U.S side was free. So as usual people left the U.S.S.R side to go to the free side. However the Soviets didn't like this and built a wall called the Berlin Wall which stopped people from leaving the communist German side. People however still tried to flee the communist German side but sadly 100 people died in doing so.
