If you can, please give me an explanation, I'm confused about how to do this.

3 is a prime number so to split it up you would put 3y in one parentheses and y in the other. at this point it will look like this
(3y )(y )
now, you need to figure out what your signs would be (+ or -) because the second sign in the equation is a negative, your signs would be one + and one - you can decide where to put them until you figure out your two factors. in this case you need to figure out 2 numbers that multiply to 5 and add up to 2. you might think this is impossible, but since the 3 is there, one of those numbers can be multiplied by three. this is your
