Genesis is a high school student and she babysits on weekends. Both families she babysits for are reachable by either bus or subway. For this reason Genesis got both families to agree to pay her $5 upfront per job no matter how many hours she babysits to cover her commuting expenses (to cover the fare to and from her home, $5). She also got both families to agree to pay her $10 per hour for the actual babysitting. Calculate how much she will earn if she works 7 hours for one family (Don’t forget to include the $5 she gets in bus fare):(Show all your work/steps)

Fill in the right hand column in the table below with the appropriate amounts. The first one was filled in for you (because she gets $5 for commuting no matter how many hours she works):

Hours Worked (x)
Total amount she earned ($) (y)

Think about how you calculated Genesis’ pay in question 1 above using your own method. Now use the following equation y = mx + b to represent the way her pay gets calculated. Plug in the appropriate amounts from the problem according to the information below to write an equation that can be used to calculate her pay no matter how many hours she works:

y = The TOTAL amount she will be paid for a babysitting job

x = The number of hours she will work on a job

m = The amount she will earn per hour ($10)

b = The initial amount she will be paid regardless of how many hours she works ($5)

Equation:

Using your equation from problem #3 above calculate how much Genesis will make IN TOTAL for babysitting for 8 hours for one family: (Please show all your work)
