Part 1. Take two pieces of scotch tape about 8 cm long. Fold one end over onto itself so it is no longer sticky there,
creating a tab. Label the longest piece (if one is slightly longer) B for bottom on the tab and T for top on the other. Stick
the bottom piece to the table. Write "Not Sticky" on it. Next, stick the top piece on top of the bottom piece and write
"Not Sticky" on it. Pull it from the table using the bottom tab. Pull the nonsticky side over a finger to get rid of any extra
charge. Then, quickly pull the two pieces of tape apart. Do not let the tapes touch after they are pulled apart. Find
another group and compare how the pieces interact. Have tapes face Not Sticky to Not Sticky. Complete the first table
below. Use A for attract and R for repel. If your tapes touch anything, recharge them by repeating the process over
again
Question: Using the table above, what is the rule for
predicting whether objects attract or repel?
