Directions: For each scenario below: 1) complete the LOL Diagram 2) write an energy conservation equation 3) solve the problem. Be sure to show all work, identify where Eg=0, and include units in your final answer. Circle or box your final answer.

A physics student decides to go bungee jumping off of a 45 m platform. A bungee cord with a spring constant k=254.8 N/m brings the student to a stop at the bottom of his motion by stretching 15 m. What is the mass of the student?

A roller coaster cart that has a mass of 735 kg sits against a spring that is compressed by 4.5 m. At the start of the ride, the spring is released, and the cart is launched horizontally reaching a speed of 11.2 m/s. After launching the cart, 900 J of energy are dissipated due to friction. What is the spring constant of the spring?
