In which situation is it legal for a minor to possess alcohol?

It is illegal for a minor to possess alcohol in US. If anyone under the age of 21 is found drinking or possessing alcohol he is considered to be  violating the law of the state. The punishment are different in different states. Only local authorities are allowed to deal with such cases and each state have their own punishment and fines. The state of Virginia allows social drinking with parental approval and on private property.
