Yes, this decision can reinforce social prejudice, because people can think they can do anything they want and there will be no legislation to punish them or to prevent them of doing any social prejudice to others.

Truly, legislation by itself cannot overcome social prejudice, its necessary that the court and all its parts work together with the executive branch to make and apply a legislation that will guarantee equal rights for people regardless of their gender, race, social status or economic situation, or any other issue that people may use to discriminate others.

But, this decision outsources the civil responsibility of the state to create a fair society and ignore the power of the states and civil rights of contemporary societies’ legislation to enforce in society fairly conditions and avoid social prejudice. We can see the power of legislation against social prejudice in past ending slavery, giving rights for woman to vote or allowing American natives to also buy lands in America.
