Explanation:

A heretic is a person whose opinions, beliefs and views go against the church’s teachings. They do not conform to the established dogmas and doctrines, and sometimes violets the church’s rules. Heresy does not mean to completely reject the religion and cause, but simply to go against the main established ideas.

While it does exist in various religions, it is mostly tied to Christianity. As such, it has been condemned in the New Testament and the church has often punished those who are considered to be heretics in the past. During the twelfth century, the Catholic church established the Inquisition who would hunt down and punish heretics. There were many executions as the result, the majority of them being Jewish and Muslim people.
