Although Taplejung and Nepalgunj are located approximately at the same latitude, Nepalgunj is hotter than Taplejung. Why?​​

Latitude alone is a poor means of comparing geographic features and most certainly weather or climate. It totally disregards things like altitude, as others have mentioned, but also prevalent air currents and their directions, large bodies of water that produce or certainly affect weather in the area, and other such things like direction of sunlight, length of days all of which can be affected by mountains or deserts upwind of the locations that are being compared.

Though Nepalgunj and Taplegunj lie at same latitude of 28 degree, they vary in terms of climate due to certain reasons.  

First of all, the distance from the ocean is a major factor that contributes in variation of temperature.  

Second reason is that the elevation of the city is another major factor resulting in variation of climate.
