Elise is so terrified of enclosed places that she had to quit her new job because her office had no windows. she knows that her fear is irrational, but she can’t seem to control her anxiety.

Elise could try counseling, that helps a lot. Also, she needs to take baby steps, for example: try sitting in a room without any windows for 5 minutes with a friend, maybe put on a short video or some music to distract her. One thing to remember about anxiety is that it's all a made up fear of your brain, nothing else. If someone could remind that to Elise every time she goes to work, it would help her a lot.

If Elise wants to handle this on her own, I'd suggest baby steps to overcome her claustrophobia. Start with a large room with many windows, then a smaller room with windows, then a very small room with windows, and if she can tolerate that (it may take a while) then a large room with no windows and so on. Eventually she will become used to small enclosed spaces and her fear, if not gone, will be greatly diminished. Hope this helps!
