Schemas may make us efficient, but sometimes at a cost in accuracy.

Social schemas include overall knowledge of the behavior of people in different social situations. They can also change the perspective of the information we perceive. If we get new information that not fit with what we think, people tend to misrepresent the new information in order to adapt it to what we know.
