I believe the answer is: It increases the nation's ability to analyze information, communicate, and travel.

Through modern technology, people from a certain country could easily obtain necessary data from target market in another country and make them able to formulate proper marketing strategy for their products.
It also make it easier for poeple to hire necessary workers from another country without having to physically be present.
