It is important in general to consider other people’s needs.
As for online communication, you have one big disadvantage. You aren’t face to face. This can make you more desensitized to the impact of your words. You need to pretend the person is in front of you. Would you still say what you type to them? This is a big issue especially with cyber bullying. People show their true bad selves because they don’t face direct reprimand. And sometimes people are unintentionally offensive or mean. It just depends on how much you take the other person into account.
