While, there are some events inside the layers of earth that characterizes sliding of tectonic plates.It may result in the formation of the ranges or deformities on the upper layers of earth due to release of an enormous amount of energy from the point of interaction which has occurred between any two tectonic plates(As there are about 7 tectonic plates around the planet in total).
