Osha standards apply to maritime employers who were held responsible for workplace safety violations. It recognizes workers’ rights like identifying and correcting workplace hazards, filing complaints about hazardous workplace conditions and seeking safe workplace conditions without the threat of discipline or termination.

Workers, however, cannot appeal their termination of employment if they violate safety policies.
