During a solar eclipse observed in 1919, the sky turned dark as the Moon moved in front of the Sun. Stars were visible in daylight. In every direction we look there are stars, and they are much farther than the Sun. During the 1919 solar eclipse, a few stars that were in the same part of the sky as the Sun looked like they were shifted temporarily a bit away from their known true positions (coordinates). Scientists predicted ahead of time that we would see this strange effect during the eclipse! What did this observation confirm to us?
