The technique used in making people go against their personal beliefs by making them do simple, harmless, and modest tasks, or activities is called the foot-in-the-door technique. The FITD technique was conceptualized by Jonathan Freedman and Scott Fraser in 1966. The technique assumed that when a person agrees to a simple and small request, the likeliness of him/her agreeing to a bigger request in the future will increase.
