Given the significant impact that organized crime, cyber crime, and terrorism have on individuals and society as a whole, should local, state, and federal governments be given extensive powers in their efforts to combat these crimes, even if that means curbing the individual constitutional rights of the accused?

With all the power and resources that the state, local and federal governments have, and are legally obligated by. They not only can and should but are required to find meaningful and effective solutions to human rights violations caused through cyber terrorism, threats to national security, and the non-existence of regulation of technology which is threatening the safety of their citizens. It is our governments' responsibility to protect us. They have the ability to do this without stomping on my Constitutional rights. It's not an either/or situation. End cyber terrorism WHILE AND IN FURTHERANCE of protection of individual Constitutional rights or get someone capable in there who can. Enough lies. Enough eroding the law so you can evade the law. Do what is decent and right and required. Protect the individual, for the individual can not fight the world, that's why we have government.

The phrases "extensive powers to combat torture" and "sacrificing human rights" don't go together. You can not effectively combat violations of human rights by taking away (thereby violating) human rights. See how that doesn't work. There is no reason or excuse to ignore or rationalize away my rights. It's not my rights or national security. And to phrase the question to make it seem like that's even a thing is tactic to hide the dishonesty and the corruption of the government by not forcing transparency. Once again, protect my Constitutional rights AND put an end to Cyber Terrorism AND do both at the same time or step down and allow someone who is able.
