It fits only hip hop because with hip hop, you do have to find your own place. With most styles, there is normally the same movements and tricks. Some hip hop styles need you to groove the the beat, and that is where you really need to find where you stand in the piece and embrace the feeling. Many important hip hop dancers in the community have found their place because they embraced a certain styles or a few certain styles. It definitely is unique, since most people when grading other styles look for the execution of moves, but in hip hop, they also grade you on how you embrace the piece and show that you have embraced the piece in your movements.

If this doesn't work to answer the question, I apologize, but the way I read it definitely seemed like this would be an answer, and this is how I feel as a hip hop dancer myself.
