The Romanticism period saw a large number of women emerge as leading composers of literature, music, and art. This in part was because of the changing roles men and women played in the household, a changing work dynamic which accepted women into positions usually only allowed for men (Industrialization), and the recent Abolitionist movement spreading throughout America in the mid 19th century.
