How did renaissance art differ from earlier periods in terms of painting technique?

The whole point was to make things as realistic as possible, focusing on the human body and more secular, humanistic ways of thinking. realism was the biggest thing, they wanted to make things look like a photo. No brush strokes showing and very detailed. Often using a warmer color palette.
