-The term Minimalism was first applied to the visual arts where it started a movement in the 1960’s that would eventually reduce art to only its essentials and nothing more than that.Minimalism in music is often referred to as compositions with a deliberately simplified melodic,harmonic, and rhythmic character.

The nature of the sounds creates a hypnotic sound that is sometimes considered to be similar to that of a machine. The work began in work by composers like La Monte Young. This minimalist sound did however play hand in hand with other sounds such as, Rock and roll to appeal to other audiences. Action minimalism was incorporated into films by composer Don Davis. He applied both technology and minimalism to the fighting scenes in the matrix film score.
