In modern western art, Michelangelo's ability to sculpt the human body out of marble with such precision and sophistication is still unmatched but his realistic approach to sculpture and painting can be seen in many modern works of art.Michelangelo produced three pieces that are considered some of the greatest works of art in history; Pieta, the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and the dome of St Peter's Basilica.
