Two-dimensional artists create the illusion of volume with light by using

I believe it's modeling - using a two dimensional surface creating the illusion of three-dimensions with light and shadow. Not entirely sure since some definitions vary from person to person.

Start with a good stem and on the top put a kinda wiggly line into a circle connecting to the stem then draw some squiggly lines in the circle that should be about 3-2 inches long
