A famous work by Leonardo da Vinci that was commissioned by the Catholic church is The Last Supper.  Leonardo da Vinci painted this painting between 1494 and 1498 under the government of Ludovico il Moro. The painting represents the Christ's last "dinner"  with his apostles before Judas identifies Christ to the authorities who arrest him.
