The rib vaults and the rose windows are considered one of the most elegant elements of the Gothic style, which we can add the flying buttress – which permitted the buildings’ lightness, in contrast to the Romanesque’s ones -, and the pointed arch.

The large usage of windows allowed the interiors to be illuminated and that supported the Church’s prerogative of “divine illumination” and the presence of God in those temples.

The apex of that style is in its late period when those elements have reached the highest point of technical discoveries.
