I still don't see how this is any better. Sorry if I am offending you, but this just still doesn't sit right with me.

Although you said that you'll still be friends with people who aren't mixed you are still preferencing your friends based on their ethnicity.

Maybe this is just me, but someone's ethnicity isn't even something you should be considering when trying to be friends with someone.
