Art and its Early Importance Project - Mayan Mural After learning how much ancient art forms can influence the art that we create and see today, it’s time to see that idea in action! For this activity, you will be creating a piece of modern art that shows influences from the ancient art form of Mayan murals. You learned that much of the art found from the Mayan civilization showed either spiritual beliefs or everyday life. The murals showed more of a moment in time, rather than just an image, such as scenes of nobility (upper class), battle, and sacrifice. Keeping this in mind, you will be creating your very own Mayan-inspired mural that shows your spiritual beliefs or a moment in time from your everyday life today. Some ideas to get your creative mural juices flowing are: Your religion A moment in class A moment from a sport you play or hobby that you do A meal that you eat with family or friends For this mural, you will need: Various paints Paintbrushes A large sheet of paper or poster Glass of water to rinse brushes Although there are no real rules or guidelines for creating this painting, it might be helpful to spend a little bit of time researching Mayan murals to get a feel for the style. You will want to try and incorporate this into your work. Many murals are colorful and feature a lot of red and turquoise. Other murals have repetitive motifs or feature hieroglyphics and captions. You do not have to incorporate all of these style choices into your work, but you should let at least one of them influence your work. Once you complete your mural, you will need to write a short reflection that describes and summarizes your work. Please address the following in your reflection: Describe what you chose to paint and why you chose this. How does this painting represent a belief or a moment in your life? Did you find this activity to be difficult or easy? Why? How did what you know about Mayan murals influence your work? You will be graded on your effort to create a Mayan-influenced mural and your reflectio

Imagine that your friend comes to you interested in a career in the photography field but unsure if he wants to be an actual photographer. because of your interest in photography, you agree to mentor and guide your friend as he makes this decision. you suggest that he may want to explore other careers in the art world, like being an art critic, an art historian, an art collector, an art gallery owner, or a philosopher of art (also known as an aesthetician). you know that your friend is detail-oriented and likes making lists and cataloging items. in order to your friend decide what career path to follow, you agree to do some research about each of these career fields. define the career in one sentence. what might a day-in-the-life look like for each of these careers? what two skills will he need to be successful in each of these careers? at the end of the email, suggest the career that you think will be the best fit for him, with his skills in mind.
