Why do you think it took four different people to create a japanese woodcut? why didn't one person do all the work like most artists of today?

Japanese woodcut: The artistic work of the Japanese people which started from the 17th century through the 19th century had greater impact on the arts and paintings of the modern era. As there were artists who introduced new genre of the arts, known as ukyio-e, as the artistic works represented the"pictures of the floating world".

Now, the artistic work to curve images and paint the paper require great technique passions and set of skills.While these days a person only has a bounded or limited set of skills with all due respect which is not sufficient to draw any Japanese woodcut art all alone,but now a days it requires a team of artists.

As the steps are followed as under to create such artistic work:

The  artist would first make an image or onto washi( a thin yet durable type of paper). The washi would then be glued to a block of wood.And after that by using the drawing’s outlines as a guide, the artist would carve the image into its surface.The artist would then apply ink to the relief, as the paint is applied to the surface.A piece of paper would be placed on top of it, and a flat tool called a baren would help transfer the ink to the paper. To incorporate multiple colors into the same work, artists would simply repeat the entire process, creating separate woodblocks and painting each with a different pigment.
