Which layer of the atmosphere do thunderstorms take place in?

Almost all weather occurs in the lower layer of the atmosphere (the Troposphere), with the exception of large storms like hurricanes or large thunderstorms (whose clouds have great vertical development and reach the Stratosphere.)
