The trace elements are those organic compounds that are needed for the growth and maintenance of plants from the soil in small amounts.

The types of trace element which are also called non-essential elements include:

Copper: This takes part in chlorophyll and seed production.Boron: This takes part in the maintenance of structural and functional integrity of biological membranes.Molybdenum: This is required for the synthesis and activity of the enzyme nitrate reductase used in the synthesis of amino acids in plant cells.Manganese: This sustains the metabolic roles within different plant cell compartments; andZinc: This is responsible for the synthesis of certain proteins.

These minerals are required in in trace (small) amounts by plants from the soil, for the formation of proteins and healthy growth.

Trace elements present in the human body like iron, zinc, copper, iodine, manganese, Cobalt etc. These are the important Trace elements which make up organic compounds.

Organic compounds contains carbon compounds, it forms many types of chemical bond and it can bond with itself.

Most essential organic compounds are:

Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, phosphorus, calcium.

measuring light intensity

light meters can be used to measure light intensity. the meter is held at the soil surface and pointed in the direction of the maximum light intensity, and then the meter is read.

errors can be made when measuring light intensity by accidentally shading the light meter. the reliability of the results can be checked by taking many samples.
