During this phase, chromosomes coil tightly, the nuclear membrane begins to breakdown, and the spindles begin to form.

That is prophase. this is the first stage of mitosis as the cell starts the process of breaking down to two cells.

Metaphase follows where they choromosomes line up, anaphase is when they are pulled to opposite sides, then telophase is when the membrane returns and starts breaking to two identical cells
