Chlorophyllous plants (rich in chlorophylls), cyanobacteria and photosynthetic bacteria are the primary producers of organic matter that is used by primary (herbivore) and secondary (carnivore) consumers. Organic waste resulting from plant and animal corpses is used by organisms (fungi and bacteria). Thanks to the light (solar radiation), photosynthesis thus ensures the fixation of CO2 and water that are released by respiration (mitochondria of eukaryotic cells).
