Distillation is a process that can be used to separate a pure liquid from a mixture of liquids. It works when the liquids have different boiling points. Distillation is commonly used to separate ethanol from water. Some more examples of this process are as salt water is turned into fresh water through distillation. Many other forms of fuel, such as gasoline, are separated from crude oil by distillation. Similarly in beverage industries Alcoholic beverages are made through distillation.
